Which Hijri calendar method does this use?
The Umm al-Qura calendar — the official civil calendar of Saudi Arabia and one of the most widely referenced Islamic calendars. It's built into your browser's own date-handling engine, the same data source it already uses for its own date pickers.
Why might this be a day off from what my local mosque announced?
Some Hijri months — Ramadan and Shawwal especially — are set locally by moon sighting, which can genuinely differ by a day from the Umm al-Qura calendar's tabulated dates depending on where you are. For religious observance, always confirm with your local mosque or Islamic authority rather than relying on any calendar app alone.
How accurate is the date converter?
Both directions pull from the same underlying calendar data, so a date and its converted equivalent are always internally consistent with each other. Coverage extends across the range that calendar data supports (roughly the 1300s to 1500s AH / 1880s to 2070s CE); dates far outside that range may not convert.
What's the difference between "Gregorian view" and "Hijri view"?
Gregorian view browses month by month on the Gregorian calendar, with each day's Hijri date shown underneath. Hijri view flips that around — it browses Hijri month by Hijri month (e.g. all of Ramadan 1447), showing each day's Gregorian date underneath instead. Useful when you want to see an entire Hijri month at a glance, since Hijri months don't line up with Gregorian ones.
