Edit PDF metadata
View or edit a PDF's Title, Author, and other details.
Your file stays in this browser.
You don't have to take this on faith:
- Open your browser's developer tools (F12, or right-click → Inspect) and click the Network tab.
- Select a file and use this tool as normal.
- Watch the Network tab — no request fires when you select, process, or download. If your file were being sent anywhere, it would show up there.
About Edit PDF metadata
Shows a PDF's existing Title, Author, Subject, and Keywords, and lets you change or clear any of them — useful for correcting inaccurate metadata left over from whatever tool originally created the file, or setting it properly before you distribute a document.
Common uses
- Removing your name from a document's author field before sharing it anonymously.
- Setting a proper title so a PDF displays correctly in a reader's tab or bookmark.
- Clearing metadata that reveals the software or device a document was created on.
Common questions
Why would I need to edit a PDF's metadata?
Whatever created the file originally — Word, a scanner, another tool — often leaves its own Title, Author, or Subject baked in, which can be wrong, embarrassing, or just missing. This lets you set it properly, or clear it, without needing the original source file.
Can I see a field's exact current value before changing it?
Yes — every field shown is pre-filled with whatever the PDF already has, so you can see exactly what's there before editing or clearing it.
