Add text to a PDF
Click anywhere on the page and type.
Your file stays in this browser.
You don't have to take this on faith:
- Open your browser's developer tools (F12, or right-click → Inspect) and click the Network tab.
- Select a file and use this tool as normal.
- Watch the Network tab — no request fires when you select, process, or download. If your file were being sent anywhere, it would show up there.
About Add text to a PDF
Open your PDF and the text tool is ready: click where the words should go and start typing. Pick a font, size and colour, bold, italic or underline, and move or restyle any text box later with Select. Arabic is written right-to-left with properly joined letters, and you can mix it with English in the same line. To change words that are already in the PDF rather than add new ones, use Edit text instead.
Common uses
- Writing answers onto a printed worksheet or form.
- Adding a note or correction to a draft before sending it back.
- Putting a name, date or reference number on a document.
Common questions
Can I write in Arabic?
Yes. Arabic text is shaped and written right-to-left with an embedded Arabic font, so it looks right in any PDF reader, and Arabic and English can share a line.
How is this different from editing the text?
Add text puts new words on top of the page. Edit text changes words that are already in the PDF — click a line and retype it.
Can I change the text after I've added it?
Yes — until you save, click any text box with Select to move it, edit it, restyle it or delete it, and use Undo at any point.
