Highlight a PDF
Drag across the text to mark it.
Your file stays in this browser.
You don't have to take this on faith:
- Open your browser's developer tools (F12, or right-click → Inspect) and click the Network tab.
- Select a file and use this tool as normal.
- Watch the Network tab — no request fires when you select, process, or download. If your file were being sent anywhere, it would show up there.
About Highlight a PDF
Open your PDF and the highlighter is ready: drag across the words you want to mark, or click a single word. Switch to underline or strikethrough, and pick any colour. The marks follow the text line by line, including right-to-left Arabic. On a scanned page with no selectable text, drag a box to highlight an area — or let the editor recognise the text first.
Common uses
- Marking the key points in a study text or article.
- Pointing out clauses in a contract that need attention.
- Striking through figures in a draft that should change.
Common questions
Can I highlight a scanned PDF?
Yes: drag a box over the area. Or have the editor recognise the page's text on your device first — then you can highlight word by word.
Can I remove a highlight?
Yes — click it with Select and delete it, or use Undo. Until you save, every mark can be changed.
Will others see my highlights?
Yes — they're saved into the PDF, so anyone you send it to sees them in any PDF reader.
